Landing FriendshipAn astute observe (with a higher quality video) would notice the VSI (Verticle Speed Indicator) going from a steady 400' / minute descent just before touchdown, to a 200' per minute climb while taxiing up the runway after landing.4% slope is a fair challenge that JohnSolt made look easy. |

Runway SurveyPart of the value of "Mountain Week" is that the students get an opportunity to survey and layout various runways. Here the Friendship landing zone is marked with cones so students can easily see their target from the air. In this case we gave them a 200' box. In other strips we will shorten that to 100'. |

In The ZoneNathan Brinkerhof drops it in the zone as Flight Instructor Scott Paulson monitors his approach angle to touch down. We find that a typical 400' per minute descent will give us about a 4 degree approach angle. |
