At about 6:50 on Wednesday, April 18, Tom Beekman and Bruce Powell took off in a Soloy Cessna 207 headed for Cameroon. This is the culmination of many hundreds of hours of preparation equipping the aircraft for serving the people in Cameroon. Several hundred language groups still have no scripture in that part of Africa and this aircraft will be a key tool in reaching many of those groups of people.
I recently published a book, entitled Ten Foot World - A Call to Influence. I actually wrote most of it when we were living in Peru, but never published it. The book uses my cross-cultural background as a springboard to encourage the church to engage in cultural influence; inside whatever culture they happen to find themselves in. In fact, my book proposes that mission work is never more than ten feet away.
As each of us engage in cultural influence within our own ten-foot world - redeeming that world to Jesus - we would be surprised at the cultural change we witness in the world et large.
